Much has happened with more happening soon!
On June 14, 2024 I graduated from the Florence Academy of Art in Florence Italy. Three years of intense study and long hours and the studio: Finito. They awarded me second place prize for “Sculpture of the Year” and also the Graduate in Residency program for the following year. That means starting in the fall I will return to teach and work in a private studio on campus!
The laurel wreath is an Italian tradition for graduates!

My Final Project

In the final trimester at the Academy it was my task to complete a life size figure sculpture, in just 10 weeks! This was intensely challenging and I pushed to the last second. But in the end I am happy with the final piece.

I neglected to share with you the product of my previous terms labor! In the Winter trimester (Jan-March) I created this piece. I would consider this my best portrait. Much was labored over this to achieve a certain expression and emotion.

Drawings

Four new drawings for you to see, two from the Winter and two from the Spring trimester. This red drawing was the final one I did at the academy and is by far my favorite drawing I’ve ever made.
